The plate of manual butterfly valve is installed in the pipe diameter direction. In the cylindrical channel of valve body, disc-shaped plate will rotate around the axis within the angle between 0 degree to 90 degree. When the rotation is 90 degree, the valve would be in fully open state.

 

Only composed by few parts, butterfly valve has the advantages of simple structure, small size and light weight. 90 degree rotation to achieve quick on and off, easy operation and good fluid control feature. There are two kinds of seal types: elastic seal and metal seal. For elastic sealing butterfly valve, seal ring can be mounted on the body or attached to the disc periphery; and for metal seal valve, though it has longer service life, but it is difficult to seal completely. Metal seal can adapt to the higher operating temperature while elastic seal is limited by the temperature.
